Model Stand
Do I stand a chance at being a model?
I'm seriously considering going into modelling. I am slim female, 5'8, UK measurements 36-27-34: UK size 8. Do you think I stand a chance in fashion/commercial modelling? Please be honest, I think my measurements may be a little off for modelling work but I am prepared to really work hard at it.
Maybe commercia or catalogue but not runway/editorial. You need to be 34-24-34 for runway or 36-26-36 for catalogue work. You either need to gain weight in your hips or lose weight in your bust if you want to model as you are a bit top heavy for anything but swimwear/lingerie modeling right now. Your bust and hip measurments should ideally be the same or at least within 1" of each other to have model proportions
But none of that will matter if you don't have amazing facial features and are not photogenic. I would suggest going to open calls or submitting pictures to agencies like these

If they think you have a great face but just need to work on your body, they will be very honest and tell you to lose/gain weight and come back in 3-6 months. But if they don't think you have the right facial features, you don't hear from them.

How would a indian model stand in the industry?
I'm asking this for a friend
Shes 5'8 or 5'9, has a good face, and shes 112 in weight.
Does she have a chance? She has nice curves too.
She was thinking about trying for Ford or Elite too.
She has a chance to work commercially, unless she's very unique (freaky) looking, then she may end up working for more fashion stuff.
The trend in fashion for ethnic models has been that you have to look very stereotypically ethnic. ie the asian models they use are very Asian looking, the african models are very dark skinned. It's as if fashion wants it's ethnics to be stereotypes.
If you're not white it's tough. Ethnic models can work but all around the world the image of beauty is white. She could probably clean up in India though.
Try out Elite or Ford, if they don't take you there's probably not much potential to work, and once you get away from good agencies the chance to get ripped off goes up exponentially.
