Since the mid-1990s, small-scale armour modelling has seen a great resurgence in popularity. This is largely due to major injection-moulded kit manufacturers such as Revell of Germany and, a few years later, Dragon Models Ltd entering the market for 1/72-scale armour models. Alongside this, numerous aftermarket manufacturers have also turned their attention to this scale and many types of accessories that were previously associated only with larger scale models are now available and commonplace for those in 1/72 scale. The popularity of this scale is also borne out by regular new releases and the continuing appearance of new aftermarket manufacturers. Reference and reading materials pertinent to this scale have also kept pace with these developments. Virtually all of the major modelling magazines feature small scale modelling articles, news and kit reviews. For a number of years there has been a successful, glossy, small-scale only magazine called Minitracks. On the Internet, there are numerous websites dedicated to small-scale modelling. Many of the most popular modelling sites, such as Missing-Links, have successful small scale forums and discussion groups. This book will cover all of the major aspects of small-scale armour modelling and will give an insight into Mr. Clark`s approach to construction, painting, finishing and presentation.

Adding a figure to a kit or a vignette can really bring it to life - yet building and painting figures continues to be a source of frustration to many modelers, with the results all too disappointing. However, help is at hand. The aim of this book is to equip the average modeller with techniques to successfully complete a figure from start to finish, and provides clear and easy to follow instructions on how to select, prepare, assemble, modify and paint realistic figures. Aimed particularly at the beginner and intermediate figure modelers, both those starting out in the hobby and those returning to it, it begins with a round-up of the range of figures available, a discussion of scale, and the tools and materials you need to get going. It then moves to exposing general construction and painting techniques, in clear, easy to master, step-by-step tutorials that will increase confidence and develop better technique. Then, using the four most popular historical periods as a framework (Medieval, Napoleonic, the American Civil War, and the modern era), it covers a wide range of individual techniques, such as showing how to paint clothing, body armor, camouflage patterns, flesh tones, weapons and equipment, and how to work in different scales - providing the reader with a veritable arsenal of artistic techniques, almost all of which can be applied to other periods and subjects. Special effects, such as weathering clothing, and adding key accessories and details are also covered in the step-by-step photographic tutorials. If you want to improve your figure modeling skills, it`s a book you shouldn`t be without, covering everything you need to help you model figures the right way.
This page lists the most important model railway scale standards in the world. Most standards are regional, but some have followers in other parts of the world outside their native region, most notably NEM and NMRA. While the most significant standardised dimension of a model railway scale is the gauge, a typical scale standard covers many more aspects of model railways and defines scalespecific dimensions for items like catenary, rolling stock wheels, loading gauge, curve radii and grades for slopes, for instance. MOROP (The European federation of national model railway associations) is a European organisation which publishes NEMstandards. NEMstandards are used by model railway industry and hobbyists in Europe. The standards are published in French and German and both versions have an official status. Unofficial translations in English from third parties exist for certain NEMstandard sheets. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Tennoe, Mariam T./ Henssonow, Susan F. History of Scaled Composites Spaceshipone
The SpaceShipOne was designed by Burt Rutan, an aviation legend. His research team at the Scaled Composites aerospace company built it and it was Paul G. Allen who funded it.
Mike Melvill piloted the Spaceship One to an altitude of 100 kilometers (62 miles). The Spaceship One has reached a record breaking elevation of 328,491 feet under the control of examination pilot Mike Melvill. Making Melvill the best civil to fly a spaceship out of the atmosphere and the first private pilot to gain astronaut wings.
The Spaceship One has reached space through the support of a carrier aircraft, the White Knight. The aircraft lifts Spaceship One from the runway. Then after an hour of climbing to roughly 50,000 feet elevation, the White Knight releases the spaceship into a glide. The spaceship pilot fires his rocket machine for about 80 seconds, reaching Mach 3 in a vertical rise. During the pull-up and rise, the pilot encounters G-forces three to four times the seriousness of the ground.
SpaceShip One coasts up to its final altitude of 100 kilometer before falling back to earth. The pilot configures the craft’s wing and tail into high-drag settings. This provides a “care-free” atmospheric entrance by slowing the spaceship in the upper air and automatically aligning it along the flying route. Upon re-entry, the pilot reconfigures the ship back to its original glider, and then spends 15 to 20 minutes gliding back to earth, touching down like a plane on the same runway from which he took away.
On 27 July 2004, Burt Rutan, chief of the Mojave, California-based Scaled Composites gave a 60 day notice that SpaceShip One will be making an effort to acquire the Ansari X-Prize contest on September 29 from the Mojave Spaceport. This first flight to attempt to win the X-Prize competition was piloted by Mike Melvil and was successful. The accomplishment was repeated no later than October 13.
A perfect desktop display and gift for your love ones and friends and indeed a great collection to make! This is what Aviation Modelworks offers you. The Scaled Composites SpaceShipOne wood model is just one of the many spacecraft replica models that we offer. The Scaled Composites SpaceShipOne model spacecraft is fully handcrafted and made of the finest mahogany wood. Colors and other designs of the original model were cautiously painted on the Scaled Composites SpaceShipOne replica. It passes through several stages of priming and sanding. And for the Scaled Composites SpaceShipOne model spacecraft’s protection and glossy finish, it is coated with a clear lacquer.
